Career of an Optician
One may ask what exactly is an optician and what do they do. I hear it very often. Opticians dispense and help fit eyeglasses and contact lenses as well. In their job, they receive customer’s prescription for glasses and contacts. Opticians measure the pupillary distance (distance between the pupils of the eye). They help customers choose different types of lenses such as polycarbonate, or hi-index, Anti-reflective, and transitions. They as opticians also help pick out frames depending on your daily activities and usage of your frames. Opticians are now and have been for a long time a basic necessity for the optical society. Over 168.5 million people in the United States of America wear glasses or contact lenses. Which means 75% of the adult population of the United States of America has been in contact with an optician.
